Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt
Thomas Lanigan Schmidt (he/him), who is known for taking part in the Stonewall Riots in 1969, sat down with Pride Press where he discussed his childhood in New Jersey. As a teen, Thomas fled to New York City looking to find himself and connect with his community.
Thomas is also an artist, using "discarded items," as his main material. Thomas has had his art celebrated in: MoMA PS1 (2012), Whitney Museum of American Art (1991), Venice Biennale (1980 & 1984), and was even recognized in 2009 by the White House for his role in the riots.
